About me
Dr. Dana Brunson is Executive Director for Research Engagement at Internet2, where she leads a team that advances research and education through national cyberinfrastructure. She is an advocate for researchers, educators, and the research computing and data (RCD) professionals who serve them.
She helps advance the national AI ecosystem as PI of three NSF NAIRR awards: the Internet2 NAIRR Expansion, "EAGER: Empowering RCD Professionals to Broaden Participation in the NAIRR Pilot" (NSF #2436057), and two NAIRR Pilot Annual Meeting conference grants (NSF #2452148, #2536728). Through this work she focuses on broadening participation in the NAIRR and connecting RCD professionals across the community. Her leadership builds on her experience as PI of the Research Computing and Data Nexus, an NSF CI Center of Excellence Pilot, and as former AVP for Research Cyberinfrastructure at Oklahoma State University, where she co-founded the OneOklahoma Cyberinfrastructure Initiative.
A champion for community-driven infrastructure, Brunson chairs the CaRCC Transitional Board, where she is leading the 2,200-member organization toward 501(c)(3) status, and she co-founded the CaRCC People Network with Lauren Michael. She served as PEARC25 General Co-Chair with Daphne McCanse, co-managed the XSEDE Campus Engagement Program (2016-2022) with Henry Neeman (which included the Campus Champions), and developed the Trusted CI Fellows Program. She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin and her master's and bachelor's degrees in mathematics from Oklahoma State University.
